It’s been a busy month at Nakota Publishing. We are preparing for the release of not one but two works of fiction on Amazon. The first is our new short story “Love at Stake,” an urban fantasy tale about a lonely vampire who decides to try that modern innovation, online dating. He meets an undead beauty who seems to fulfill his every desire – but what dark secrets is she hiding? Look for “Love at Stake” on Amazon by October 31st.
The second thing is the release of the print edition of our steampunk novel Professor Ione D and the Epicurean Incident. In this exciting adventure, Ione D travels to London for the First Royal Epicurean Exhibition where mayhem and murder ensue. It’s up to Ione and her best friend Emma to help solve the crime and apprehend the culprit.
As with the first book in the series, Miss Ione D and the Mayan Marvel, we are including additional content for this release. Each chapter will have an exclusive piece of artwork at the beginning. We have engaged the services of several different artists which should keep things interesting. I’m currently working on formatting the manuscript in the required PDF format with the open-source desktop publishing program Scribus. We’re hoping to have this available by November 15th.
One of our most exciting finds has been an artist we found through the website Fiverr, José Cardeñas of Venezuela. There are so many people out there with artistic talent but few have had the ability to creatively interpret our instructions in a way that improves upon the original concept. The attached picture is Jose’s cover art for “Love at Stake.” We believe it’s a perfect fit for the story. At Steampunk Desperado we celebrate history but we also appreciate the technology of the present and the way it allows us to work with people halfway across the world in a shared creative endeavor.
I can’t wait! You will love the humor!
