Mike and Ronda’s “The Place,” Glendale
1-28-18
First impression: 4 out of 5 croutons. The entrance was crowded, with foodies waiting inside and out. Our name was taken, and we were obliged to sit and wait. Ugh.
The ambiance: 4 out of 5 croutons.
I really liked the wooden lodge look. We sat on beautiful wooden furniture with deep comfy cushions. I started to regret my original score for First Impression. The staff is friendly and seem to love their jobs. We only waited about 5 minutes, which caused me to change the First Impression score again.
The menu: 4 out of 5 croutons.
Although the menu is small there are a lot of choices to be found. I usually don’t comment on prices as I do believe you get what you pay for. Having said that, the prices are more than fair.
The server: 4 1/2 out of 5 croutons.
The server was quick to our table, he was energetic and amiable without being annoying. He was knowledgeable about the food and menu.
The drinks: 4 1/2 out of 5 croutons.
I ordered an iced tea, (my fans know I am a tea snob) and my sidekick had his usual coffee. The server returned quickly with our beverages. The first sip, and amazing. The iced tea tasted as if I had just brewed it.
Ok, foodies, here’s the one you’ve been waiting for.
The food: 4 1/2 out of 5 croutons.
I chose the meat and eggs, and my sidekick had the “build your own omelet”. Biscuits so big they could double as a Papasan chair. The gravy was divine. Everything tasted fresh. Our server was attentive, but not pushy.
Well done Mike and Rhonda, you have created a lovely restaurant with delicious choices and a crew to be proud of.
Total score is 25 ½ out of 30 croutons.
