Coin Operated Critic #5 – Serra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse

Reviewing Arizona’s Eateries

Serra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse

16160 N 83rd Ave, Peoria

First impression: 3 out of 5 croutons.

There is a large bar area to the side, and the hostess station is right in front

The ambiance: 1 out of 5 croutons.

The many tables are so close together that you must inch your way sideways to get through. The lightning is bright, and it is very noisy between the other guests and staff. Not a good place for a first date, or to take anyone you would want to converse with.

The menu: 0 out of 0 croutons.

There is none, with an exception of the drink menu.

The server: 0 out of 0 croutons.

There was a server to begin our experience, but we never saw him or her again, I don’t even remember what they looked like.

The drinks: 3 out of 5 croutons.

I ordered an iced tea and a mixed drink at the beginning of our meal, and my sidekick, a Brazilian beer. We relied upon passer-by servers for refills

The food: 2 1/2 out of 5 croutons.

You visit the salad bar first, which has many selections. Once you return to your table and have finished your greens, you receive a clean plate, a family style serving of garlic mashed potatoes and caramelized bananas.

The gimmick here is that it is an all-you-can-eat-meat place.

I mean all you can eat. You have a coaster that is red one side and green on the other. If the green side is up, the multitude of meat servers keep coming. They have beef, chicken, pork, and lamb with a variety of seasoning, and preparations. You can accept or decline, but they keep coming. The quality of the meat was average and didn’t justify the high cost.

Total score is 9½ out of 20 croutons

We were not impressed with the food or service. Save your money and go to your favorite steak house.
